CNS 14335 related test projects

According to the clear provisions of Section 4 of CNS 61347-1, in addition to complying with the applicable control device standards, independent light source control devices must also comply with the relevant provisions of CNS 14335.

In response to the recent technical judgment doubts that have concerned the industry, BSMI has decided in the technical meeting that independent light source control devices need to further evaluate the following CNS 14335 test items:

Manufacturers who plan to apply for or are currently undergoing BSMI verification registration are recommended to confirm as soon as possible whether their existing products involve the above applications to ensure that the products comply with the latest technical resolutions.

IEC 61347-2-13:2024 has adjusted the temperature rise test requirements under normal operating conditions. The main updates are as follows:

• Single rated voltage equipment: The test must be conducted under the conditions of 0.92 times and 1.06 times the rated input voltage respectively.
• Wide voltage range equipment: If the equipment is marked with a voltage range, such as 100V–240V, it must be tested at 0.92 times the minimum rated voltage (for example, 92V) and 1.06 times the maximum rated voltage (for example, 254.4V).

Compared with IEC 61347-2-13:2014+A1:2016, the test conditions of the new version of the standard are more stringent. Therefore, businesses who plan to apply for this version are advised to confirm in advance whether their products can meet the above requirements.

The China National Certification and Accreditation Administration announced on May 31, 2026, the revision of the "Compulsory Product Certification Implementation Rules - Mobile Power Sources, Lithium-Ion Batteries and Battery Packs (Trial)". The new version of the rules is numbered CNCA-C09-02: 2026.

This revision is mainly implemented in conjunction with China's mandatory national standard "Technical Specifications for Safety of Mobile Power Sources" (GB 47372-2026). Applicable products include mobile power supplies, as well as lithium-ion single cells and battery packs for mobile power supplies.

Starting from April 1, 2027, relevant products should undergo compulsory product certification in accordance with the new version of the rules; products that have obtained certification certificates according to the old version of the rules should also complete the conversion process in accordance with the new version of the rules.

The Korea National Institute of Technology and Standards (KATS) issued Announcement No. 2026-206 on July 1, 2026, to issue an administrative notice on the draft formulation and revision of the "Safety Management and Application Guidelines for Electrical Appliances and Daily Supplies" and 5 "Safety Standards for Electrical Appliances", and disclosed the reasons and main contents of the revision in accordance with Article 41 of the "Administrative Procedure Act" to solicit opinions from all walks of life.

This revision is mainly to support the launch of new electric vehicle charger products, and to simultaneously add and revise relevant operating instructions and safety standards. The highlights of this revision are as follows:

1. The "Safety Management and Application Guidelines for Electrical Appliances and Daily Supplies" has been revised, and relevant safety standards for electric vehicle chargers have been added to Schedule 25.
2. Revise the "Safety Standards for Electrical Appliances" to support the launch of new products such as parking stop type electric vehicle chargers (주차방지턱 충전기) and promote the integration of Korean safety standards with international standards. The revised standards include:

• KC 61851-23
• KC 62196-1
• KC 62196-3
• KC 62196-3-1

KATS also released relevant attachments, including the "Safety Management and Application Essentials of Electrical Appliances and Daily Supplies" and the formulation and revision draft of various safety standards, a comparison table of old and new provisions, a regulatory impact analysis letter and a submission form.

KATS stated that agencies, groups or individuals who have opinions on this revised draft can submit written opinions to the Electrical and Communications Product Safety Section of the Korean National Institute of Technical Standards before August 31, 2026.

This announcement is still in the administrative notice stage and has not yet officially taken effect. After the deadline for soliciting opinions, KATS will collect opinions from all walks of life and review them, and then announce the official revision content and implementation date.
